New Year's Resolution: keep talking to ghosts!
New Year's Resolution: keep talking to ghosts!
Downers Grove, IL
This location consists of two houses located next door to each other. The 1846 Israel Blodgett House and the 1892 Charles Blodgett House.
We investigated on November 1st with a small group, and from the start, the energy in the air felt noticeably different. There was an abundance of activity and could best be described as a trickster or prankster-like presence. Throughout the night, Nicole misplaced equipment including her Estes Method blindfold, which was later found outside by another team member.
At times, it felt as though we were being watched, not just from within the house, but from outside of it as well, as if other spirits were lingering around the homes. During an Estes Method session, Nicole experienced major anxiety and an overwhelming sensation that something was about to jump her, which is not common to her. While investigating the basement of the main house, the team heard distinct tapping above us near the front door, as though something was trying to get our attention or be let inside. Unfortunately, no audio of the tapping was captured due to the heating system turning on at the time.
It’s often said that investigating on Halloween or even the night after on All Saints' Day/Dia de los Muertos, comes with more activity, when the veil between worlds is thin. That night certainly felt like a reminder that spirits may be capable of more interaction than we fully understand.
During the investigation at the 1846 Blodgett House, Al captured a stick figure on his modified SLS (Kinect) camera. The figure appears to move from a seated team member, then jump and climb up the wall before disappearing.
Al captured a stick figure on his modified SLS (Kinect) camera that appears in front of the door quickly in the main house near the drawing table before disappearing.
Al captured a seated stick figure and then a tall one on his modified SLS (Kinect) camera in the main house while the rest of the team was investigating the kitchen in the background. This is an active site that seems to produce a lot of stick figures on the Kinect device during investigations.
Al captured a stick figure on his modified SLS (Kinect) camera outside between the two homes as they talked about the ground and the markers that were found outside when museum curators were determining the original foundation and layout of the land.
Al captured multiple stick figures in the drawing room in this clip on his modified SLS (Kinect) camera.
Al captured a stick figure in the main room in on his modified SLS (Kinect) camera. The team was experiencing activity in this room with the rope light activating (triggered by touch) that was placed in front of the couch. There is also an interesting black orb that emerges at 17 seconds that shoots past.
Al captured multiple stick figures in the main rooms in this long clip on his modified SLS (Kinect) camera. Note: there is no audio on this clip.
A response not heard in real time appears to say “Nina,” at the 10-sec mark. The breathy voice occurs after Kelly says, “That is loud,” referring to the Spirit Boxes heard in this clip.
Note: Nina is the museum curator & asking questions. The spirits tend to respond to her frequently.
A response not heard in real time appears to say “Hi,” at the 17-sec mark after Nina asks the spirits to make a thump again. Note: this is difficult to hear so recommend wearing headphones when listening.
In this clip in the upstairs section of the 1846 House, the team reacts to what some think is a breath or while others think it is a stomach that is heard in real time. Note: it was not windy on this night and we were getting a lot of thumps, bangs, and responses to questions throughout the night.
