Spring into action with some ghost investigations

Lemont Historical Society

Lemont, IL

Brief History

The Old Stone Church is the oldest church structure in Lemont and was originally called the Lemont Methodist Episcopal Church. The structure existed as a church from 1861-1970. In 1970 the congregation moved to a new building and deeded the building and land to the Lemont Historical Society. The venue now houses a museum (in the basement) and hosts wedding ceremonies in the sanctuary. Paper records of the past are kept in the gallery or loft. The structure is charming, cozy, and made entirely of Lemont limestone donated by the Brown quarry. The land the church / museum sits on was also donated by the Brown family. It’s interesting to note that at one point, the building was used as a recruiting depot during the Civil War. It was also the site for reform activities within the church.

P.R.i.C. Squeal Noise

After shutting off the P.R.I.C., Al and Jason (Lemont Historical Society member) hear a squeal/scream heard in real time that was not coming from the device. Note that several pieces of equipment captured this.
